Introducing me!

Hello everyone!

Before I start posting the about topics that are sincerely and unapologetically me, I thought I would introduce myself to you all first.

My name is Jessica. I am 26-years-old and got married to my wonderful husband in 2021 (thank goodness the pandemic allowed for that). I was born and raised in Ohio, which is where I currently reside. I got my undergraduate degree in psychology from Youngstown State University and my Master's degree in forensic investigations from Bowling Green State University. I started my career working in child welfare, but now I am a death investigator for a Medical Examiner's office. That being said, there will be some posts addressing my job, so I won't discuss it much right now.

I am the oldest of three children and my two younger brothers are twins. My family is the most important thing in the world to me and I am 100% the person who calls home to mom and dad to complain, talk, share accomplishments, or just to hear their voices. I have the same small core group of friends that I had in high school and we are all going strong! Let me tell you, nothing beats having friends who have been together through the awkward junior high years and watching them grow into amazing people who are doing what they love.

My favorite color is orange and green comes in a close second. I love musical theater, romantic comedies, comedies in general, and the occasional thriller. I listen to mainly music from the 2000s, but I also like anything from the 70s through today's hits. My favorite animal is the penguin, which also happens to be the mascot of Youngstown State University. You see the same animal every day for 3.5 years, you're bound to become attached. My comfort characters are Bucky Barnes, Loki, and Eddie Munson. Lastly, my favorite drink is an iced mocha with banana flavoring.

This blog is going to be called "Bona Fide Me". I love to write, but over the years, the only thing I have written are reports for school and work. As a result, creativity was put on the back burner and writer's block moved in. Luckily, that cloud is lifting and it's time to get back to doing what I love. The goal here is to express my true and genuine self through these posts. I will be open about my life, thoughts, work (as much as possible), interests, dreams, and everything in between. I hope that by being myself through this platform, I can also inspire others to not hide behind self-made walls due to fear of judgement from others. Because, let's be honest, you are amazing and no one should make you feel any less. Now, let's embark on this wild ride called life together and finally be free to be ourselves!
