My World of Coffee: Go To At-Home Coffee Recipes

Updated: Jun 27

It’s no surprise that at this point in my life, I basically live, breathe, and possibly even bleed coffee. I know my Ninja DualBrew Pro Specialty Coffee System like the back of my hand and I would be lost without it.

While my coffee choices might change from day to day, there are a few aspects of my routine that generally stay the same.

First and foremost, I prefer my coffees and lattes to be iced. I drink hot coffee, but only at work or when my family visits and I brew a large pot for them. In my opinion, iced coffee is the superior form of coffee and nothing will change my mind.

Second, I tend to use the same cup, which is a plastic Venti Starbucks cup with a skeleton hand decal on it. It was gifted to me by a coworker at my office’s Secret Santa gift exchange this past year. I can honestly say it is my favorite cup and I will continue to use it long after the decal falls off.

Third, all of my coffees are topped with some type of cold foam. The added touch of sweetness just takes the coffee to another level and it is absolutely delicious. I make my cold foams by frothing flavored coffee creamers until they are thick and creamy. Plus, watching the foam melt into the coffee is very satisfying.

Finally, my coffee brand of choice is Café Bustelo. I use it so much that I have to buy the party-size container. I’ve tried many different coffees over the years, but Café Bustelo by far tastes the best. Just look for the yellow canister! You can’t miss it.

Now that the staples of my coffee routine have been established, I want to share with you a few at-home recipes I have been obsessed with lately.

Iced Mocha

  • 4oz strong coffee or espresso

  • 2 teaspoons chocolate drink powder

  • Milk

  • Splash of sugar-free vanilla syrup

  • Vanilla cold foam

Ingredients to make an Iced Mocha

Place the chocolate drink powder and sugar-free vanilla syrup in a small cup. Brew the coffee into that same cup and mix until the powder has dissolved. Next, pour the flavored coffee into a cup filled with ice. Then add milk and top with a vanilla cold foam.

Iced Vanilla Latte

  • 4oz espresso

  • 2 tablespoons sugar-free vanilla syrup

  • Milk

  • Vanilla cold foam

Ingredients to make an Iced Vanilla Latte

Brew espresso into a small cup. Add in the sugar-free vanilla syrup, mix, then pour into a cup filled with ice. Then add milk and top with a vanilla cold foam.

Iced Vanilla Sugar Cookie Latte

  • 4oz espresso

  • 2 tablespoons sugar-free sugar cookie syrup

  • Milk

  • Vanilla cold foam

Ingredients to make an Iced Sugar Cookie Latte

Follow the same recipe as the Iced Vanilla Latte, but substitute the vanilla syrup for sugar cookie syrup.

I really enjoy making my daily coffee at home because it allows me to experiment with different flavor combinations to see what works and what doesn’t. It’s fun being my own barista! Plus, it saves me a lot of money, which makes my husband very happy. I do still like treating myself to a coffee made by someone else from time to time, but there is a different level of satisfaction when I make a delicious coffee on my own.

All the ingredients for the drinks listed above can be found at any grocery store, except for the coffee syrups, which were purchased from TJ Maxx and Marshall’s. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. And please share your favorite coffee recipes, as I am always looking for a new coffee to try.

Stay caffeinated by friends!
